After consulting the guidelines of the International Stud Book Committee, the NZ Equine Research Foundation's publication on Horse Genetics and NZTR Chief Veterinarian Dr Andrew Grierson, and then discussing the matter with trainer John Wheeler, NZTR has determined that, despite the horse's physical appearance, Vencedora does not meet the conditions of Taranaki Racing's  Powerworx Greys Open 1400 and is therefore ineligible for the race. Accordingly, the horse has been scratched from the race in accordance with NZTR's determination.
