Awapuni home bend update

RACE Group is continuing the programme of work in returning the reconstructed No1 home bend to racing.

Whilst the majority of the new section raced well at a limited trial meeting held on 27 November 2018, there was a 50m inside section around the 600m in a very narrow band 1 metre out from the rail that was softer than the rest, creating inconsistency in the running.

Initial inspection recommended specific remedial actions which have been undertaken.  During the week beginning 17 December a further inspection will be conducted by the club and NZTR.  A further update will follow at that time.

Under the NZTR ‘return to racing’ policy, a further set of trials will be held on the new ground on 12 February 2019, with a return to racing on the reconstructed home turn targeted for March 1, 2019.
