Greymouth J.C.

The Greymouth Jockey Club’s first race meeting took place at Omoto, inland from Greymouth in March 1867. The meeting scheduled to run over two days was so successful a third day was added. The club continues to race at Omoto and races once a year, in January. The race day is part of the popular four-day West Coast circuit, which ends at Greymouth. The feature race, the Monteiths Brewing Company Greymouth Cup sees the presentation of the silver cup first won by Black Duke in 1931. Visitors to Omoto can be assured of good racing and good hospitality in a country setting.
