SOFIA ROSE wins ARC Oaks!
9th April 2016 - we're an enormously proud team here at MARSH RACING after SOFIA ROSA gave us our first Australian Group 1 victory in the Australian Oaks, worth $1million.
Stephen and Troy have done an amazing job in the last two weeks to get Sofia Rose at her best and a big thanks to Hugh Bowman for a cool patient ride. A day we will remember for a long time to come.
About 'Stephen Marsh Racing'
Stephen Marsh is one of NZ’s most successful trainers, and certainly at age 34 in all probability the youngest NZer to have attained the successes he has achieved in his reasonably short career as a Class A Trainer. He currently sits 5th on the Premiership.
Stable History
Gaining a Public Trainers Licence in the 2002-2003 training season, it was of no surprise that he would hit the ground running, as he was well attuned to the operations of a top flight training establishment through the guidances of his father Bruce Marsh who trained in NZ before heading to Singapore.
The stable continues its Singapore connections through purchases made at NZ Sales for clients, which include Albert Bosma of ‘Go Racing’ syndicators. These purchases usually race in NZ as 2 and 3 year olds before they head offshore to Singapore. The stables core business however is totally focused on NZ racing.
Present and Future
Stephen Marsh Racing’s main goal is to better themselves each year, so far this is being achieved, each year the range and quality of horses continues to grow.
The stable has had 33 winners so far this season, beating there previous best of 30, however the season is only half way through.
They also boast having one of NZ’s best jockeys as their regular stable rider – Danielle Johnson who currently is the leader on the Jockeys Premiership for this year.
Record of Success
Danielle has ridden 28 winners for the stable so far this season.
During his training career Stephen Marsh has trained the winners of 14 Group and Listed races and amassed over $5.5million in winning stake monies.
The highlight of Stephen’s career certainly came in the form of Ruud Awakening who in 2013 won the Listed Karaka Millions, winning the 2YO lead up race to that two weeks before, and then soon after won the Group 1 Haunui Farm Diamond Stakes.
