Welcome to 'Roseview Equine Services'
Breaking In | Pre-Training | Ready To Race Education
It was a career as a jockey (during which he rode over 200 winners) that led Erin and his wife,Kelly Jillings, to establish their equine preparation services business in the Manawatu. Their services include:
‘Ready to race’ education
A large repeat clientele has allowed their operation to thrive and they offer an extensive range of services and facilities to cater for all needs.
The property consists of 18 boxes, 11 large covered yards, complemented with 6 acres of spacious secure paddocking, a 700m sand track, walker and mock barriers for further education.
Their largest intake is in the autumn with the yearlings coming in from the Karaka Sales and then again in the spring when the 2 year olds come in for their ready to race education.
Some sports horses and other types are also catered for, but the majority of those handled are thoroughbreds heading for the racetrack.
As well as preparing thoroughbreds for racing, Roseview Equine Services have educated a number of ponies and sports horses, some of which have become prominent Horse of the Year candidates.
Erin and Kelly have also had considerable success at the ‘Ready to Run’ sales – both for their own draft and that of clients, with some reaching around the $100k mark under auction.
Prior to setting up Roseview Equine Services, Erin and his wife Kelly (formally Kelly Burt, also a jockey from Taranaki) spent 5 years in Japan managing a pre-training stable. On their return to New Zealand, the Rongotea property was purchased and the husband and wife team have since turned out nearly 180 horses each year. Currently they have reduced their intake to around 100.
