Peter’s Background
Peter Rudkin commenced his training career in the Waikato where he was raised in the farming sector and his interest in horses commencing as a Pony Club kid.
Whilst living in the Waikato he held an Owner Trainers licence and trained at the Cambridge Racing Clubs training facility. During his career Peter has amassed just under $600,000 in winning stake monies.
Each year the Stables would travel south to take in the West Coast circuit, which includes the iconic Kumara Nuggets raceday.
On one occasion Peter was the Stable foreman for a team from the stables of both Donna Logan and Kenny Rae whose horses were competing at Riccarton on Cup week.
The Move South
Falling in love with the Riccarton environment, he decided to make the move south, leasing stables from the Canterbury Jockey Club.
Three years ago Peter gained his Class A Public Trainers Licence, and these days is based at the Riccarton racecourse with a brand new purpose built barn. The spacious modern facility also includes substantial yards also newly built to compliment the large Barn accommodation.
One of Peter’s ambitions is to attract new owners into racing, a sport and a profession that he is truly passionate about.
