About Us


Fraser Auret is probably one of New Zealand’s youngest trainers to obtain a Class A Public Trainers Licence. The now   30-year-old  has a string of successful training feats to boast of with a background and education in ‘equine’ to match.

Our Facilities


The Marton racecourse and established his training business on the site. The property sits on 82 acres, with two separate areas of boxing recently added to complement the new barn. The advantage of training on an old racecourse site is that the track has been professionally cambered and tile drained. Furthermore, it has a spacious 1720 metres of course proper and with two ploughed surfaces and two grass tracks, it provides plenty of training surface options. The training complex is now ‘home’

Fraser Auret is probably one of New Zealand’s youngest trainers to obtain a Class A Public Trainers Licence. The now 30-year-old has a string of successful training feats to boast of with a background and education in ‘equine’ to match.

Fraser was raised on his parents ‘Leatham Thoroughbreds’ farm in Wanganui. A successful event rider as a very young man, Fraser spent 8 years in the eventing world, before leaving school and winning a NZ Bloodstock scholarship to attend the Marcus Oldham Equine Management College in Victoria, Australia.

On returning to New Zealand, he was Foreman for the then Patea based Kevin Gray, later moving back to Wanganui and basing himself on his family’s property, from where he pre- trained for some of New Zealand’s best trainers including Kevin Myers and Peter McKenzie.

The Marton racecourse and established his training business on the site. The property sits on 82 acres, with two separate areas of boxing recently added to complement the new barn. The advantage of training on an old racecourse site is that the track has been professionally cambered and tile drained. Furthermore, it has a spacious 1720 metres of course proper and with two ploughed surfaces and two grass tracks, it provides plenty of training surface options. The training complex is now ‘home’ to Fraser’s residence, staff accommodation and provides for a capacity of 30 horses at any one time.
