Diamond Lodge was founded in January 2010 by principal Jeremy Whale. The core operations of the Lodge include Professional Specialist services including breaking in, pre-training, yearling preparation and Ready to Run preparation for Sale (R2R).
Stable History
Jeremy came from a background of riding school and pony club, his Grandparents taking him riding, and the love of a horse sent him in the direction of wanting to be a Veterinarian, however with school grades not good enough he realized he needed to pursue his equine passions in another direction.
Good groundings in the equine and racing industries came from riding trackwork and working as a stablehand for Jeff McVean. Jeremy also worked for the racing stables of Chris Wood, Murray Baker and at one time was stable foreman for Paul Duncan.
Wanting to achieve more sent him on the path of leasing a property where he set himself up as a breaker and combined that with riding trackwork for Frank Ritchie.
Diamond Lodge Today
Since then Diamond Lodge has outgrown three properties, and Jeremy works solely in the business breaking/pretraining and specializing in preparing for the Ready to Run Sales. Some of his results considering his pinhooking have been outstanding even though the Lodge is just coming up 5 years old.
Through his expertise and successes at pinhooking Jeremy has built up an international clientele including Hong Kong and Australia. Hong Kong bloodstock agents often purchasing at the NZ Bloodstock Sales then passing on to Jeremy to prepare and trial before heading off overseas whilst others will go direct to Hong Kong after a preparation.
Jeremy maintains his success is purely about results: “Look at the results”, he says – and that says it all!
The Results
First draft at Karaka – a draft of 21 – 2 lots selling at $180k each.
That was the beginning, and since then:
2013 Ready to Run Sales: O’Reilly colt fetches $340k
Diamond Lodge topped the sale aggregate in 2013
2014 Diamond Lodge – another sale topper: Savabeel colt purchased at $80k was sold by Jeremy at the Ready to Run that year for $460k.
2015 – the yearling lineup purchased from the Premier session are shown above.
2015 – Sydney Sales – 2 yearlings purchased
