7th Dec: Total Excess primed for first stakes test
Published: 07 Dec 2018 - - Author: NZ Racing Desk

Undefeated three-year-old Total Excess is being set for his first tilt at stakes company in the Gr.3 Bonecrusher Stakes (1400m) at Ellerslie on Saturday.

Trainer Jamie Richards has been pleased with his runner since his last start win over 1300m at Awapuni last month and he is hoping he can continue his winning ways.

“He has done well in the stable, a two week turnaround and (stepping up to) 1400m, everything looks right about the job. Michael Coleman is on him and he galloped him on Tuesday morning,” he said.

“We’re pleased with him and he’s a progressive sort of horse. He’s two from two and needs to take that next step up in to stakes company on Saturday.”
